If buying stacks of sweets at 130g per point during festival events and reselling 190g per point counts...

Otherwise no.

no. Not Evar~!
the only times that came close are when I sell something for wayy over it's worth, and that's out of mutual ignorance ~ and ofc has worked against my favour too, lotsa times~!

.. in fact if I someone has accidentally offered me too much in a trade I tell em, and on those occasions I didn't notice until after, I offer to refund the difference
soo .. I am poor ~ well not really, gold is easy enough to get by just playing .. but karma pays off, and have been gifted with lotsa nice stuffs by peeps

Nope, never scammed.

Got scammed only a few times, when I wasn't careful or didn't get paid for runs I did.

Be careful and you'll never get scammed.

once and only once, back when i though 5k was enough to buy you everything in the game with leftovers. On a droks run paying at droks. Along the way i added everyone to my ignore list then just logged off when we got there. If the person i scammed asked me for his money today and i belived him id probably triple it.

That said i felt like shit after it.

No, there's no need.

I was getting a droks run ages ago and got disconnected just as we reached Rankor. After getting back on I managed to talk to the runner who must have thought I'd just left without paying. He was in the middle of another run, but I waited around in Rankor and gave him his money when he arrived.

No, when I first started to play the game about 2 years ago a complete stranger just gave me a gold q:9 shield in ascalon city and that inspired me to start my guild that was devoted to helping other new players in the game so scamming have never been anything natural to me.

Fiery Flame Spitters, musta pulled in a couple hundred k before I got disgusted and stopped. Not with myself, mind, but with the people so ignorant that they couldn't be bothered to google the item for two seconds and realize how easy it is to get.

Had a friend who pulled in a cool mil doing that before the market was saturated. That was a long time ago.

I've also falled asleep during runs and not paid, or went for a snack or some such, but I figure that's balanced by all the times I've been scammed on runs -- kinda like carbon offsets. And I've definitely been scammed during runs way more often than I've failed to pay up.

Oh and Althea's Ashes waaaaaay back in the day, but that doesn't really count. I'd buy em in bulk for like 100g and sell em for ten times that.

All of that experience in selling people on superfluous stuff has come in handy at my current job. Woo!

edit: Oh, and I started the game getting scammed. A dude sold me a shitty Raven staff for literally everything I had besides my armor just after I got out of pre. So, you know, do unto others.

Part of the problem is that many people do hold gear to mean something.

That's not much of a good reason...

Unless you prefer to be scammed constantly, of course.

Never tried to swap items, sell something as something else or change gold amounts etc. I've only ever had runs from Kamadan to the docks and then to LA and I've always paid the amount asked or more if they were friendly and quick.

As to scamming runners, if you need to scam someone the 1-2k for the average run then you have bigger issues.

If people want to count asking people to set their own price for an item and paying what they ask as scamming then that is up to you.

I've never outright scammed someone else, but I have done the common market practice of buying undervalued items and reselling them at a 200% profit.

However, I believe it comes back to bite me all the time. I am always getting blatantly scammed from others. Just last week a "friend" took off with 99 ectos. Just shows how much you really know about people.

On a side note. I have scammed runners before. But only under certain circumstances.

Me: WTB 10 Onyx Gemstones
Other Person: 10 Onyx for 8k
Me: They're worth less than 700 gold each. (truthfully, they were worth 950)
Other Person: Oh...
Other Person: 18 Onyx for 8k Fair?

You'd be surprised how far we were from the Rare Material Trader in Lion's Arch.

Bad logic.

A droks run (when I was new and got them) were like 6k. And throughout the game there's about five major runs you can get. la, droks, through the jungle, sanctum cay, and desert. If each one costs like 3-6k, and you get those all ran on say 4 different characters you're talking about a relatively hefty amount of money that you can save by scamming people if you choose to do so.
